THANK YOU FROM COUNCILLOR RANDY CARROLL

We did it!

It’s been a busy few days. I am grateful and humbled by the flurry of congratulatory emails and texts I have received since the election results were announced on October 24.

Thank you to the residents of Goderich for putting your trust in me and supporting me in my bid for a seat on Council for the next four years.

Thank you to my family and friends for your love, encouragement, and support throughout this campaign. A special thanks to the love of my life, my wife Laurie, who has always been my best critic, is my best friend, and my reason to succeed.

Thank you to my team of volunteers who helped by knocking on doors, installing signs, handing out flyers in our community and managing my social media campaign.

I have always had roots in Goderich and this town has always been my home. When I moved back to Goderich I knew I could do more for the community. Every person I spoke with, either at an event, walking down the street or when I was canvassing door to door, taught me something new about themselves and what was concerning to them locally.

There’s a lot of work to be done and my commitment to you is the same as it was when I started my campaign. I look forward to serving the citizens of Goderich and will work together with my fellow elected Councillors to start tackling those concerns. We will operate with transparency and integrity and collectively, serve in the best interests of our residents and town.

Thanks again, it is appreciated

MEET RANDY CARROLL

As Councillor, I know that I can't just show up and vote on the agenda. It's not that easy. I have an obligation to read the meeting notes, come prepared, understand your concerns and be willing to advocate for our community and put forward innovative ideas.

Council needs leaders who are prepared to challenge accepted thinking and lead us down new paths and work together and collaborate with others with the best interest of the town paramount in the decisions. I am one of those leaders and am thanking you for your support and vote this past election.

I encourage you to explore my website to learn more about me, my platforms and why voting for me was a vote for accountability, integrity and transparency here in Goderich.

PRIORITY ISSUES

Our airport, our waterfront, our downtown core, mental health, and residential expansion are just a few. One area of focus for me is to continue to work towards removing the inequities within our community.

The town has made positive strides towards providing access to affordable housing within our community. A lot has been done, but we can not lose focus. I will do what I can to support this and continue this push for more.

We need to make smart decisions that we make when it comes to the development and use of our land, and this is one area that can benefit from smart choices.

We must find ways to sustain our youth locally and provide them with growth opportunities once they have achieved their educational goals. We have a vibrant town with diverse opportunities and we need to look for ways that we can help our existing business community prosper, do what we can to attract new small and medium-sized businesses to our community and work towards filling empty workspaces and creating new ones. The more we do for our local businesses to help them bounce back after two long hard years the more we will do to attract those wanting to invest. We need to find ways to do more.

WHY I RAN FOR COUNCIL

My family’s roots are in this community and Goderich has always been where my heart is. I have a desire to be a bigger part of this community, to give back to this community and bring my solid business and political background to serve those who live and work here.

During my tenure as CEO of the Brokers Association, one of my main focuses was political action and consumer advocacy. As you can imagine, Insurance is a contentious topic at the best of times. As a result, I have spent countless hours meeting with elected officials both Federally and Provincially, making sure that our voices were heard and that they were educated on the issues when it came to regulatory changes. I understand what is required to make knowledgeable decisions, research issues in order to make informed decisions and how to work together to make things happen.

Ultimately, I ran for Goderich Council because I saw an opportunity to serve and represent the taxpayers of Goderich and use my past experience on the other side of the table as Councillor.
